I was using a JR Max66 6-channel. All the mixing for the control surfaces was done electronically. For a standard 4-channel tx you can set it up with y-harnesses... and this is the way that it is advertised, but digital mixing gives you so many more options - Individual servo sub-trim, travel adjustments, front/rear bias etc.
If you are an experienced pilot, they are not much different to standard aerobatic planes, except the elevator has a different effect when doing loops due to the control surfaces on the canard. But if you are a beginner, then no, it is defintely not the right plane for a beginner. It has a lot of control throw, and doesnt level out by itself.
what transmitter did you use?
