How would you describe Jesus to someone who has never heard the Gospel before? Would you start with His miracles? The virgin birth? His sacrifice on the cross? You probably wouldnt start by describing His conflicts with the Pharisees. In fact, thats not a part of Christs life and ministry that we hear much about these days. The popular image of Jesus today is passive and peaceful, but that doesnt begin to capture the full picture of what Gods Word says about His Son. So grab your Bible, take a seat, because today John MacArthur is going to re-introduce you to a Jesus who wasnt always nice...

  • Amen. I attend Grace church. John MacArthur is a real pastor. This means he watches out for the flock and protects them from the wolves. We need more pastors like him today who have the spiritual backbone to speak the truth and don't care about "offending" the false teachers. God bless you John.

  • AMEN!!!! So true :)

The problem with this approach is that people do not know what Jesus came to save us from. So the message may sound great to you, but remember those who listen to you. People in a burning building don't need to know about how much they are loved. They need the fire alarm to sound. Neglecting the example set by Jesus and John the Baptist is both arrogant and dangerous.

  • @Laras420 Take a look at where Paul starts in presenting the gospel (Rom 1:18...), John the Baptist starts with "repent" (Matt 3:2), and Jesus Christ Himself starts His public ministry with "repent" (Matt 4:17). Knowing this truth, where should we start?

  • I start with the love he has for us sinners and who he is, ie God manifested in the flesh. My job is to plant a seed, not fear others into obedience

  • John MacArthur's website, cds, books, sermons, study bible, ETC. ETC. ETC. all have greatly blessed me. This man is gifted of God and is a gift to the Body of Christ. I shudder to say anything negative, but I just don't like the title of this sermon. I know the content is true and biblical, I just wish this wonderful man of God had chosen a little different title, this one time.
