This is my redneck cellphone battery charger. This should work with any phone battery as long as you are supplying the correct voltage or lower. You cut a usb cable in half and use the end that plugs into your computer. Strip away some of the insulation and isolate the red wire and the black wire. Test the red wire with a voltage tester to make sure it is the hot wire. It will supply 5 volts in a standard usb cable. You must twist the end of the red wire around the positive contact and the black wire around the negative contact of the phone or the phone battery. First test your charger with your computer's usb port before using any AC usb adaptor with it as this will just increase the danger. But hey, life is a calculated risk right?

  • do you think this will work on my phone ? i have a kyocera loft .

  • Yeah! charged!! I did something similar, spliced a 12 volt car charger with a usb cable because it was no longer working in my car. White n Green wires are not used. thanks!

  • ...average cellphone battery voltage: 3.5V

And USB voltage, as you said, 5V. Which does give you good charging, but — since you avoid charger controller, be sure to unplug the cable as soon as the battery is full. Oh wait...

  • Just remember to unplug the usb when battery is full as this would not stop charging the battery, even when full

  • @cheder92 I know, just doesnt work on the atrix
