More than a century ago, on what is today the site of Bronx Community College, renowned architect Stanford White set out to create what many would picture as the ideal American college campus. White's vision - a traditional academic quadrangle surrounded by neo-classical structures. Today Bronx Community College is home to four neo-classical treasures designed by White: The Gould Memorial Library, Language Hall, Philosophy Hall, and the Hall of Fame for Great Americans. Now with the design of a new 56 million dollar library and classroom building, Bronx Community College is hoping to complete the quadrangle that White envisioned so many years ago. The architectural firm of Robert A.M. Stern presented the plan at a recent meeting of CUNY's board of trustees.

  • I wish that the Columbia's Manhattanville project would look like this. The new buildings they've planned are glassy and sleek, which is a bit too modern compared to the rest of Columbia's campus.
