Alissa's latest campaign against the Canadian Seal Slaughter.
One of the strongest drives for a musician is for their voice to be heard. Lyrics provide an undeniable platform to say whatever needs to be said, whether that's about a long lost love, recent heartache, or the current state of the world. The Agonist is a fiery metal band from Montréal known for beautiful vocals juxtaposed with deep metal growls. Lead siren and vocal vixen Alissa White-Gluz isn't afraid to use her voice, and now she's speaking out for seals all across Canada. Alissa is so adamantly opposed to the annual Canadian seal slaughter that she lent herselfâ€"and her voiceâ€"to us for a new ad, insistently stating, "Bang your own head, not a seal's."

Check out our brand-new ad starring Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist, and take a stand against the cruel seal slaughter by writing to the Canadian government today!
It's time to put Canada's shameâ€"the annual seal slaughter, during which hundreds of thousands of harp seals are beaten to deathâ€"in the spotlight. Every year at this time, sealers take to the ice to bludgeon migrating seals and their babies, all for the sake of selling fur pelts on the international market. If there were no demand for fur, there would be no seal slaughter. We don't understand why people would want to wear a dead animal (and contribute to the devastating environmental effects of fur production), and neither does Alissa. Watch our exclusive video with Alissaâ€"a lifelong vegetarianâ€"to learn why she is so passionate and willing to stick up for seals and why she will always take a stand for animal rights. Then take a stand yourself by writing to the Canadian government!

  • vegan = gays

  • i couldnt be a vegan, i enjoy meat to the highest extreme. i like it where its still bloody, in the middle. It almost gives a feeling of being high when you eat enough, quite pleasant. a steak and a glass of liquor just go together well.

  • @OddManOut13 grammer/sentence structure correction. the life it leads prior to its end, is what I care about most. Not to mention, how its life ends.

  • I appreciate that she understands that people that still eat meat, can still have a strong emotional feeling about animal cruelty. I still eat meat. I don't believe eating meat in itself is animal cruelty. Its (IMO) life it leads prior to its end, so to speak. I only buy local meat, that I can account for its lifecycle. Things like veal for example, or pretty much out of the question. I really like this women.

  • I'm sorry but don't those people have realy hard winters up there & rely on that meat to get through the winter. I'm sure they don't do that for sport. And its not like they can just grow crops when its winter 9 moths out of the year. And a small town in the middle of no-ware can't afford to bring in loads of food. I like The Agonist there a great band, But somtimes its all about survival.

  • I'm not vegetarian, I like meat. However: I like animals. In my opinion the lemur is the cutest animal ever and I didn't like seeing those seals getting beat up.

When rise against did a little video about being vegan, they purposely made it super sad and the singer looked like he was gonna cry. On purpose. I didn't like that because I felt he was trying to say eating meat is wrong and bad. With Alissa I didn't get that feeling. that's why I can respect her as a vegan a lot more than the rise

  • @azraelsgrave There are actually PETA campaigns against wearing wool and stuff. They are pretty much on everything. They also try to inform people against, like you said, captivity of the animals and these thing called mulesing that sheep go through. The fight against everything that is harming to animals. From eating meat to animals in shelters.

  • I want to kill those at 0:40 seriusly lets make them feel the same pain please we are humans oh sorry ANIMALS too why don't they get it ?

  • Ouch!

  • I love her...
