I set out, totally blank of ideas, to make this an instru version of Bob Seger's classic, "Old Time Rock'n Roll", but realised after the first verse had
past that it would sound too monotonous and wouldn't hold the interest up all the way through so I just 'winged it' from then on and made a totally improvised guitar solo of it, using my almost 100% customised Tokai 'Paisley' Tele for the lead part! One take only (a formula I usually stick to) and a pretty fast one to cut. Did turn out 'so-and-so', but I'm pretty satisfied with the somewhat 'heavy' backing though (I'm a fanatic when it comes to heavy drums and will gladly kill any bass guitar that comes in the way!). Cut in my living room in '97 (what else, lol!) on a very basic 6-track Sansui MR-66 cassette recorder!! Goes to prove that you don't need to have the latest technical gizmos to get passable results!!
Hope you enjoy... (and don't forget the usual routine, aka click on the HQ button on the YT screen for High Quality playback, thanks!!!!)

  • Hiya Margie! Ain't you the dearest one!! You will never know just how much I appreciate your comments! And, yes, that's me and only me creating all that noise, as usual..lol!! I'm a One Man Band, you know, doing everything entirely single handed, I've always worked that way! Playing, vocals, producing, sound engineering, you name it! Talk about egoism, ha, ha!! Take care & lots of hugs!

  • Unbelievable. Hank these sound as though you've dug them out of some vault. No one plays like this these days. Your music rings so many bells and strikes so many chords. It's not revival, recreation, mimicry or anything that describes modern attempts at the genre; it's original and genuine and without compare.

No one plays like you, except those who were doing it fifty five years ago. Many many thanks for the unadulterated pleasure of listening to your work.

    I hope you never stop.
