Her Only Hope (Jonas Sister Story) episode 5

After Nick asked a few questions there was a knock on the door. They turned to see who was coming in. Joe had walked in slowly, causing Emma to scream and hide behind Nick. Youve got to be kidding me! Joe said.

Emma trembled violently as she held her death grip on Nick. He attempted to get her to calm down but that resulted in her crying harder. Mrs. Jonas and the rest of the family walked over to comfort Emma. Joe stood back awkwardly, feeling like the odd one out.

Emma its alright dear, youre okay. Mrs. Jonas cooed, trying to get Emma to relax. Emma just hid her face in Nicks chest. Mrs. Jonas sighed. Paul, why dont you take the boy to pick up some lunch? Mrs. Jonas said to her husband. Paul nodded and walked out of the room with Frankie, Kevin and Joe. Nick wanted to stay with Emma.

Once the door closed Mrs. Jonas sat on the other side of Emma and ran a hand through her long brown hair, avoiding the bandage where her stitches were. Emma, baby, Joe wont hurt you. she tried to pursued, but the five year old had so many people hurt her, she could only trust Nick and her new mom.

Nick made eye contact with his mom, Pain evident on his face. He kissed Emmas head. He hated to see people sad, especially family.

Emma, the doctor said youve been here before. Why? Nick asked her quietly, almost begging, knowing she was more likely to answer him then his mother.

My old family hurted me a lot. said the young girl. This brought tears to Nicks eyes. He care fully laid back and Emma care fully rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes. Are you tired Emma? asked Mrs. Jonas. Emma shook her head no, but yawned in the process.

Its been a long day sweetie, why dont you just take a nap. That was all Emma needed before she quickly entered a peace fully sleep, cuddled next to her favorite big brother.
Nick smiled as he watched her drift of to sleep. He too let out a yawn and closed his eyes. He fell asleep with a protective arm around his little sister.

Ten minutes later Nick was awoken by a shuffling noise. He opened his eyes and saw his brothers on the couch eating sandwiches and chips. He noticed his mom opening the bag of hospital café food and she handed him his sandwich and diet dr. pepper. He smiled thankfully at his mom and looked down at Emma. She was now huddled in a ball facing away from him. He silently got up and sat in the chair next to the bed. The Jonas family sat silently in the hospital room, watching Emma sleep.

A couple minutes later Emmas doctor walked in. He asked to talk to Mrs. and Mr. Jonas privately outside the room. Nick threw his mother a worried glance but she missed it due to the fact she and Mr. Jonas were halfway out the room. Mr. and Mrs. Jonas, we need to talk. The doctor stated.
