He may be getting a rough ride after revealing that there'll be no election in the near future, but there is some good news for Gordon Brown.

A poll has found the PM has the backing of parents when it comes to running the nation's schools and universities, with an 11-point lead over the Tories.

When asked: "Which one of the following parties do you most trust to improve education?" the results were:

Labour: 35 per cent of parents

Conservatives: 24 per cent

Liberal Democrats: 10 per cent

And, parents place the expansion of work-based and practical learning as the second most important policy development -- after smaller class sizes.

The top changes to learning and the curriculum supported by parents are :

1) expansion of work-based learning (77 per cent)

2) more exposure to the real workplace (66 per cent)

3) better career advice for children (65 per cent)

4) more emphasis on practical learning in schools (63 per cent)

5) more after-school activities (58 per cent).

  • This is possibly the most horrifying thing I've ever heard in my life.

Privatising schools is the only way to ensure a decent cost effective education for our children.

For every £100 of our tax that goes towards schools only £1 reaches the schools and the rest is taken by government bureaucratic BS.

Government should stop meddling in our lives and give us back our freedom.

The con of the century.... Slavery is over.... MY BACKSIDE.

  • I like the changes to learning and the curriculum. I love practical application above all else. This is going on to my playlist!
