A little TLC today will ensure that your favorite .45 ACP will work flawlessly the next time you shoot it. Veteran gunsmith Mitch Schultz notes that many Model 1911s that come into his shop for "repair" really just need a good cleaning and proper lubrication. To get the job done right, watch Mitch show you how to field strip, clean and lubricate your favorite 1911 the right way. (NSSF Video)
@hairlesscatlover I feel he's saying it more like it's just common sense.

LOL What tips? That's how you disassemble the 1911! LOL I didn't see one "tip" in the whole friggin video!
Too much oil is bad because any unburnt powder will stick to the wet oil and eventually form a gunky mess that can jam up/hinder the operation of the internals.

@ghostinthemailbox you have to remember the tolerances the weapons function under, similar to putting too much oil in your car. It's difficult for the weapon or engine to exert enough force with all that crap in the way. Also oil attracts dirt and dust which turns to gunk which further slows your guns action by messing up it's tolerance.

I got a stupid question, you said too much oil is bad. Other than a lot of smoke when you fire, what harm is a little extra oil?
Nice youtube channel by the way...
