  • Most useless navy of world war two. Actually had superiority in the mediterranean and yet the british were able to kick their asses in north Africa. In fact the entire Italian military was bad, everywhere they fought they were defeated.

  • @bombarderoazul This is about navy, not military. Italian navy was almost 100 % functional at the end of the war, and as a matter of fact americans and english used our boats in their navy after we surrended ...maybe they didn't think it useless.

  • Italian navy ww2 was better than the British,at the start, but because of rivalries between the navy and the air force, the navy lacked air support and consequently suffered.

  • You're a 4 yr old child. Going to war is not an afternoon garden party. All participants of war utilise whatever means and resources at their disposal. There's no cowardice in radar and night fighting. There's a lot of cowardice when German and Italy failed to confront the Royal Navy EVEN WITH the help of radar and night fighting. BTW, before Taranto, the Italian battlefleet already turned away from HMS Warspite after a single long range hit.

  • The Italian Navy did fine during WWII, it's just that the Brits did a little bit better.

  • @FGalaxie that is not true. they did´nt held the line and that was the caus the the 6. army was lost. It was not the power of the italians that was wrong, they had bad weapons and a bad leadership.

  • @clama79 Rommel had special words of praise for the 7th Bersaglieri Regiment, who attacked fiercely .

    The italians at Kaserine pass.

The Italians held the line at stalingrad so everyone could escape.

  • @FGalaxie ha Kasserine was held by the Germans. In the russian front the Russians brake through the italian and Romanian lines . And the Folgore was fighting there you are right but only because they had Rommel as the leader.

  • @clama79 the battle of kaserine pass, the Alpini on the Russian front, the folgore in north afrrica woul say otherwise.

Plus when they finally got the good fighters. kicked ass.

  • i miss my grandpa, he was a italian sailor during ww2, he was a good man, R.I.P

  • @Yoshie1984 the real problem was the Italian armed forces high command, unable to coordinate the various aeronautical and naval forces, the British intelligence services knew all our mossa.la Italian navy was superior to the British Navy in the Mediterranean at least

  • the italians were too afraid to fight in WW II

  • Infact, British lost more than 40 submarines in mediterranean, 20 of which directly by Italian Navy, and the oters for mines o unknown cause, lost 7 cruiser by mean italian navy, had 2 battleship badly damaged in Alexandria, and many others ships damaged by navy, sub and torpedo bombers. Italian navy could carry in north africa more than 95%of personal which start from italy, and more than 82% of goods, loosing more than 40 destroyers and 15 cruisers. Italian subs out of mediterr sunk 101 ships.

  • @bombarderoazul The two main problems:

    1) sucky leadership (not just Il Douche, but also a lot of inept generals and admirals with outdated conceptions)

    2) old weaponry: most Italian guns of WW2 were designed before or during WW1; the tanks (tankettes mostly) were designs of the late '20s and early '30s; and the air force relied mostly on biplanes for interception

    3) no research on radar - which in the homeland of Marconi seems just too weird.
