This is a short demonstration of the new 5 hour DVD on Portrait Gestures by Jeffrey R. Watts. To order the full DVD, please visit our website "lilipubsorders". Please note that rental companies do NOT pay any kind of royalty to the artist NOR licensing fees to the Producer, so rental cheats both the artist and the producer out of their fairly earned rewards.

  • Does the dvd teach one to blend/mix colors or is the viewer expected to know already? Is this only regarding brush technique?

Divided by 5 paintings this price is fair.

  • @10shields The DVD definitely shows ALL of the brush mixing activity on the palette; however, it is not a lesson dedicated to mixing and blending colors. There is a camera dedicated to the mixing activity on the palette.

  • I have several Liledahl vids ( David Leffel) and before ordering this one can you tell me if this includes the basic set-up of your canvas?. My paint does not float on the canvas as yours does. I use "Old Masters" Maroger on acrylic primed linen. Thanks

  • @myachinass He does not show the canvas preparation; however, he does describe the canvas and materials that he's using for the painting.

  • Your points in the description about how rental companies don't share revenue with you are fair and well-taken, but as a counterpoint, I'd suggest that you'd get a lot more sales if your prices were lower. US$150 for a single DVD is far out of the range of many students. Even $50 would be hard for many, but I doubt you're at the ideal point on the "price * sales" curve at your present selling cost. I'm sure it's a fine product, but $150 puts it far out of my budget, personally.

  • Your point is well taken and understood; however, such a price is necessary in order to (1) pay the production costs, (2) pay the advertising costs, (3) provide the production company some incentive to do it in the first place AND (4) to pay the artist a reasonable royalty for each sale to give him/her incentive to do it...OR you can be sure that the video couldn't and wouldn't exist in the first place.
