I have to disagree that you are doing everything "right" if you're not getting a great sound. Equipment and embouchure might be right, but if the throat, diaphragm, posture and amount of mouthpiece taken in (more than less) are not right, then the sound won't be. But if you do those things right, you'll get at least a "true" saxophone sound, if not an expressive one.
He points out a very good and important point to those people who waste a lot of money to purchase different mpcs and saxophones, silver-plated, solid silver, gold plated to find an ideal equipment. 95% of sound comes from the concept of a player.
Stick on the same setup and practice to sound whatever one like.
Meditate on what 'a sound' sounds like. Brilliant.
