The popular Trail of 100 Giants is temporarily closed in Sequoia National Forest after two of the towering trees fell side by side over the trail.

Giant Sequoias are slightly shorter than the coastal redwoods, more massive, and considered to be the largest tree in the world in terms of volume. The largest sequoia and the most massive living organism on earth is the General Sherman Tree in Sequoia National Park stretching 275 feet high, 36.5 feet in diameter, and over 52,500 cubic feet of wood.
It is estimated that the ages of larger giant sequoia trees in the grove are up to 1,500 years old.

  • Here's a thought, what's considered the world's largest organism is falling. Do i keep filming for the millions of ignorant youtube viewers? Or GTFO of the way? In case you didnt notice, it was crushing the shit out of the other trees, and those too, were falling. Might be a good idea to stay safe. You just witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime event and all you can do is complain...

  • It obvious from this you have no clue about ecology or logging.

  • wow....thats just a stupid comment... I'm hoping thats what you were going for....

  • To bad some tree huggers were not there to complain that mother nature should not kill trees.Mother nature kills more old growth then loggers do.

  • - This is insanely rare to even witness a sequoia to fall let alone capture it on camera. And think about the guy's safety, he pretty friggin close to the impact which would cause other trees to fall. So just stop and at least respect the guy who actually risked his life to catch this.

  • if a tree falls in the woods........? Guess the jury is still out on that one...

  • Want to see a huge tree come close to collapsing and then jump to dust?

    Me neither!

  • I wanted to see it land. H has video of it falling, and video the moment after it lands at the end....but no actual landing moment? What on earth is that? Why not?

  • Hey, I'd say it's really impressive to get your camera switched from still shots to video in time to get any of it, even if it only let you get short clips. That's some quick thinking! Well done!

  • crap video. that's all there is to it.
