A quick test of procedural generation in Gmod. I did not design the mesh entities in use here, so they have some rendering issues. One ladder designates where you arrive, the other generates a new level and puts you in there. All of the generation is done as you "use" the ladder, so the slight lag and generation of those meshes is all you get and you are in a new level. It is randomly generating the content on a 30x30 grid with ~600-1200 blocks of the grid being used. The reason for the heavy fog is that due to a lack of dynamic area portals, I simply made it so the meshes will not render after a set amount of units in order to limit the lag you would experience from rendering an entire map of meshes at once. The original meshes are by "Suicidal.Banana" because I am lazy

  • @RepeatDefender Heh, my thoughts exactly. It may have this shiny layer of modern 3D and a complicated game engine on top of it, but all you're really doing is designing a classic 2D maze.

  • I dont know this map

  • Amazing! You have a link to this? I'm very interested as to how you programmed it in lua!
