Update: In this video, he was desperately trying to evade me to die elsewhere alone. as they say, all animals who know they are going to die, will find a silent corner, away from anybody and wait to die. So i found where he was hiding and I tried to give him support to be strong to survive but sadly, he could not make it in the end.

Our Gingerboy passed away on 16/05/2010 @ 1120am. We had used a salbutamol asthma inhaler to provide him some breathing relief but at the end, he could hold on no longer and died right before my eyes on the cushion where I was tending & caring for him... :'( We tried to resucitate him but to no avail. The day before we had brought him to a vet but because he was only a few months old, he will not survive surgery. and the vet MANHANDLED him as well so cos of this, this was the price to pay, that took Gingerboy before his time..

R.I.P. Our beloved Gingerboy, you will always be our beloved son. ~ 18/03/10 - 16/05/10

Ginger, our pride and joy.. The first who ate dry kibbles all by himself, the first to use the litterpan all by himself, the first who taught his siblings how to play and he was always the strongest Badboy of the lot..

Never did we know that he would fall so ill.. Took him to the vet and cos he is too young, he cannot undergo surgery cos he will not survive it, if operated on..:( so right now all we can do is make him comfortable and be with him, keep him lucid.. he cannot breathe in enough oxygen and his lips have paled down to a bluish-white color..

And now, it could be his last moments.. Took this video of him cos I saw that he kept going to the humid dark toilet.. probably to R.I.P... cos when animals die, they do it by going somewhere out of sight, away from everybody, and wait as they breathe their last..

So lets hope and pray that Ginger gets well..

Our Gingerboy passed away on 16/05/2010 @ 1120am. He passed away before his time and to this day we do not know what condition he was suffering from.

Hence I post this video up in order to gain more knowledge(and to prevent the same from happening to the rest of my kittens) on what could be, that plagued gingerboy to his death.

Anyone who has a similar experience with their own pets like this and know what condition that led to this, pls, do share.

  • You should not have done what you did. The kitten was looking for a quiet corner, because that is a cat's instinct when they are >sick<. They don't know when they are going to die, just as we don't. What you should have done:

    - put him in a quiet, dark room with a humidifier going full power,

    - put him on oxygen (oxygen bottles cost about $20),

    - smear some nose drops on him nostrils.

Granted, this might not have saved him in the end, but it would make for an easier end.

  • My cat, Nibb, died in my arms in a very similar manner. He was pained to breathe and would whimper a little from the pain. In a matter of hours I was heading out the door to take him to the vet and he died in my arms. I cried like a girl.

He had another sibling from an older litter die the same way. His older sibling had a condition that I guess is kind of common, where their heart and lungs grow too quickly and eventually fill with fluid/blood. Can't remember the name, though.

  • That is the saddest thing I have ever seen. It could have been asthma which is treated with meds. He could have been put in an oxygen cage to help him breath!!! Did you try that?

  • he probably has upper respirator infection and or pneumonia

  • This is absolutely heart breaking.

  • SEEK A SECOND OPINION!!!! THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THE VETS CAN DO FOR HIM, ATLEAST TO MAKE HIM A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE.....

  • Please take him to another Vet

He could have lunge infection please help Him

dont let him suffer this way

If he cant get better , please but him to sleep

he dont even want to be cuttle ,, which means he is really ill and cant breath

  • YOUR CAT HAS A THYROID PROBLEM I THINK. MY CAT WAS DOING THAT EXACT THING AND IT WAS HIS THYROID. HOPE YOUR CATS OK. sorry for caps i didnt notice.
