Unifying Threads brings women in Barnsley together to create an artwork showing that Barnsley has many layers and women with many backgrounds. From its heavy industrial past with glassworks and mining to providing refuge to new migrants, this short version of the film celebrates Barnsley's past and present. Full film available free of charge from Northern Refugee Centre.

  • Great short movie Jeni! Made me think how I fit in Cork, where I'm living at the moment, as an emmigrant

  • I love the many layers of women's lives in traditional Barnsley, the contrast of the certainty and steadiness in their cultural heritage as compared with Barnsley refugees and asylum seekers whose uncertain lives are unified with the patchwork creation in "Unifying Threads".

  • Short, sharp and a great insight into Barnsley life.

  • Fantastic short film about community cohesion.
