I have problem with my 5months old 500g my passport WD external hard drive. When i plugged it in the pc it says "delay write failed" and I had hard time recovering my files. I hate WD for its quality and I think files are not that safe once the external hard drive has problems
I just purchased a My Studio 500 Gig External Hard Drive. Its formatted for the Mac but is compatible for Windows XP. I"m now formatting it (NTFS) and it's heating up. Am I to expect that?

the first thing one needs to do when they buy one of your hard drives is to format it, to get rid of all the gubbins that comes with it
