@thedudeiscj Well the main point of this video is that we can observe light traveling through space. The little packets of light energy, called photons, being diverted to the camera are being bouncing off of molecules in the air and water; the same way you can see the beam of a laser pointer. So we're not seeing individual photons, which is what it sounded like we'd be seeing, but we're watching a 'clump' of photons moving at the speed of light. hope that helped a little...
@btsouthmost It would be useful to help simulate lighting in video games if we didn't already have a theoretical framework for light physics, and if video games took into account the speed of light for their simulation.
Just a high school student here, not a quantum physicist, but how exactly are we seeing photons, if photons (light) are what let's us see? I don't understand.

we see the photons themselves. its just a partial of the light that is going through the scene and being scattered.
