This kind of a system does work much better with an IR light source of some kind. Check out my video. Search for "nerd ir pen". Enjoy.

its because a small number of bluetooth dongles or receivers work with the Wii remote, and the one built into the MacBook works.

lol on my laptop the power cord is on the back and the usb ports are on the sides. (im not saying this is fake ive done it before)
