Legend has it that a Los Angeles D.J. named Hunter Hancock on AM 1230 KGFJ used "burn baby burn" as his tag line in the early 60's in talking about the hottest hit he was spinning and it was picked up by Watts Rioters and then not used again until this song in the 70's
