During the reunion the veterans toured the Washington DC area including Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, the new Organization of Chinese Americans headquarters, the National Museum of the Marine Corps, and the Newseum. A banquet was held at China Chef in Wheaton, Md., on Saturday September 20, 2008, at 6:30 pm. The Ceremonial Unit of the Surgeon's General Honor Cadre (Honor Guard) presented the National Colors and the Chinese Youth Club of Washington DC performed a rousing welcoming Lion Dance. We were entertained by musical Tai Chi dancers and Christina Lim, videographer and historian shared videos she helped produce about the veterans. The key note speaker was Phil Tajitsu Nash who gave a moving tribute to the veterans and honoring their determination and sacrifice. We are, because they were.
