Sphynx Cat Staph Infection

Sphynx cat has staph infection. Vet and I didn't recognize it as staph when it started on his bum. Trying to clean his bum of what appeared to be a sudden poop cleaning issue probably helped spread it. This is an fyi.

He stopped prednisone and antibiotics when we left for burning man, got home, he looked very healthy. So it wasn't his diet.
Went to a pet fair, gave ½ a pred as precaution that day only, 2 days later the beginnings of staph. Started preds and rest of antibiotics til cleared up.
Went to pet fair, this time not using the sunblock that we always only put on his head, used a parasol instead.
2 days later no beginnings of staph.
Mark kept telling me we started using sunblock at poodle parade. I was poo pooing that the little we put on him would cause this.
Today since there was no staph, I looked at the UVet sunscreen "Discontinue use and consult a veterinarian if redness, irritation or swelling occurs."
D'oh!!!

Actually a sphynx holds the record for longest feline life. They are generally much healthier than any other breed.

@1980KNIGHTRIDER Yes, all better. over the counter allergy pill daily has kept the staph away.

@hydrakson Vet and us think that he's slightly allergic to something, or stressed, then staph took advantage of the vulnerability.

A friend of mine breeds Sphinx's & Siamese. What the Sphinx lacks in looks, it makes up for in personality. They are charmers that love human contact. When I sit on the floor, a litter of kittens will climb all over me. They love contact. I would be afraid to let them out doors.

@KevinFL Boo gets out only on harness and leash to community functions. He's certified for animal assisted therapy, because he is such a lover.
