  • @thefrenchy2993 Amazon.

  • Super !!! "Mister five by five" était vraiment GRAND. Ici, on a droit à deux special guests : Roy "Little Jazz" Eldridge et Coleman Hawkins. Wahoo !!!

  • Does anyone know where I can order the score to this?

  • @strangersname

Right on! I listen to Basie almost every morning! I'm glad I've lived to see videos like this being available for the world to see!

  • My favorite saxophonist is definitly Lester Young, but I must admit that Ben Webster is damn good in the Sound of Jazz show.

  • @Ixprmetw Go to Amazon.com and look for 'The Sound of Jazz' -- the 1957 CBS broadcast from which this was taken. There are CD and DVD versions.

  • This video justifies youtube's entire existence. Here it is-- a slice of heaven. Gemurin, you've blessed us all...

  • Ben Webster does the first Tenor break and Coleman Hawkins does the second.

This very well may have been the same week that the famous photo "A Great Day In Harlem" was taken. I believe that just about everybody in this number is in that photo.

Lester Young and Billie Holliday were both on this same show too.

  • I left my baby Standing in the backdoor crying Yes I left my baby Standing in the backdoor crying She said son you’ve got a home As long as I’ve got mine When I leave you baby Count the days I’m gone When I leave you baby Count the days I’m gone Where there ain’t no love There ain’t no getting along are these lyrics correct?
  • Wow!!! Coleman Hawkins on the tenor sax! The double gift for me!
