The art show CLOWNTOWN ---- April 4th 2009 at the CSUF Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, Ca. Featured a three ring circus of neo-clownesque art by artists, MULDER142, EXTREMO THE CLOWN, and DARK VOMIT ( with collaborative pieces by Bret Barrett and David Russell Talbott ) The artistic trio transcends traditional notions of clown art, taking you gleefully into a place some art patrons choose not to tread. The work...or more befitting, the play of MULDER142 is a chance to meet Schleppoe the Clown and his friend and cohort Delilah. MULDER142 has skillfully and thoughfully designed an alternate universe where Schleppoe and Deliah among other friends have become living breathing entities on to their own. Where paint and pigment morphs into flesh and blood. A universe where each painting leads to the next in an ever expanding storyline...a storyline you may find yourself addicted to. If the clown art of DARK VOMIT is representative of the artist himself, well, simply put, he is a madman...or maybe we are too quick to judge, grant it, his work is best described as strange, weird...and well, maybe a little unsettling but on the flip side his work is clever, thought provoking and familiar. Either way the mind of DARK VOMIT is a nice place to visit...but you wouldn't want to live there. EXTREMO THE CLOWN craves your attention and feeds off your emotions. Your laughter is his drug. He employs his paintings for that very purpose, to entertain you whether you like it or not. His art doesn't always make sense, some pieces are dark, some are light, some are somewhere inbetween...but rest assured it's all unusual as usual. ---Come one... come all. Rock out with your clown nose out! Clowns, good and bad, sexy and sad. Mimes of all shapes and sizes. Juggalos, Jokers and Jesters, black, white and green. Harlequins, Jugglers and sparkling Drag Queens. Puppeteers without fears, Stiltwalkers, Glam Rockers and groups of Goths. Tattooed Tricksters, Buffoons,Loons and Goons. Furries and Shapeshifters and Pierced Weightlifters. Fools by the dozen, Derby Girls and their and cousins. Step right up, each and everyone of you, make your way to CLOWNTOWN! Sat. April 4th in Downtown Santa Ana. A Clownstock of sorts where the powers that be aspire to the largest gathering of the above mentioned family of freaks. Adorn yourself with the brightest, darkest, coolest and unique attire and meet like souls with offbeat sensibilities. Can you afford to miss this event and witness the latest coulrophobic creations of Mulder142, Dark Vomit and meet face to face Extremo the Clown himself? But the real question is... when all is said and done and decades in the future when your grandchildren ask , "were you at Clowntown?" What will your answer be? --------- video footage by Bret Barrett, edited by Kelly Hutchison ( DARKVOMIT ), music by Extremo the Clown.

  • What a great exhibit, thanks for showing us!! Extremo is brilliant! Best entertainer on the circuit!! I'm reminded how cool it was to see the exhibit in Santa Monica years ago called One Thousand Clowns, which was massive exhibit of clown paintings on-loan from Diane Keaton and other clown art collectors. The exhibit also has a book by the same time. There's also an illustrated book the history of clowns. cheers, Hunter
