@jazzbutterworth No, It really is a heavy rescue. They do vehicle extraction, high angle and low angle rope rescue, confined space, a little Hazmat, and run back-up for Newark during fires. Now UMDNJ has the SOG (Special Operations Group) units, Two in Newark and one in Camden that deal with MCI's (Mass Casualty Incidents). SOG unit sounds like your MERV. And as in Hospital Based, It is owned and Operated by the University Hospital.

@metalheaddork666 It may not be a heavy rescue, but fdny has the "merv" which is an ems bus. (Merv=major emergency response vehicle.) It is based at a hospital.
