Excerpt from a sermon given by the Rev. Ed Bacon at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on St. Francis Sunday, October 3, 2010. "God Did Not Give Us a Spirit of Cowardice." See the entire sermon at www.allsaints-pas.org, or hear it on iTunes.
People are people. You know? Even if it is justified in someone's head that gay people deserve a nasty existence in both life and in death, that does not change the fact that gay people, at minimum, are loved by God. After all, God is love. I believe that God is unconditional love. Otherwise, why is the God of Abraham worthy of worship? I do not choose to be a follower of God on the basis of fear. I choose to allow God to be by my side, sort of like a partner.
Wonderful pro-love message rather than anti -homophobia. Homophobia will not go away by fighting a war on hate. But through advocating the love of Jesus love wins.
I wish I could go to this church.
