A paracartographic experiment in cartoclasm, one of the unMaking Maps projects by John Krygier. "Atlas of the North | Atlas of the South" applies a circular saw to an atlas of the world. This act of creative vandalism results in two atlases, one of the North and one of the South. The project, like others in the unMaking Maps series, draws attention to the map/atlas as an object in and of itself, in this case posing questions about orientation on the map and in the world. In addition, this project poses the question of why maps are seldom if ever the subject of iconoclastic attack.
