The lyrics (Roth, Vai) are posted below:

Are you ready for the new sensation
Well here's a shot heard round the world
All you backroom boys salute
When her flag unfolds
Well, guess who's back in circulation
Now I don't know what you might have heard
But what I need right now's
The original good time girl

(chorus)
She's a vision form coast to coast
(Coast to coast)
Sea to shining sea
(Sea to shining sea)
Hey, sister you're the perfect host
(Make a toast)
Show me your bright lights
And your city lights, all right
I'm talkin' about the Yankee Rose
(Bright lights)
And your city lights, all right

I'm talkin' about it

When she walks
Watch the sparks go flyin'
Firecrackin' on the 4th of July
No sad songs tonight
Somethings in the air
Yeah, the feeling gets you
A real state of independence
So pretty when her rockets fly
Still provin' any night
That her flag's still there

(chorus)

I'm in love with the Yankee Rose

(spoken)
Oh, she's beautiful, alright
Mmm, nothin' like her in the whole world. Yeah!

She's right on time
I'm on the case
Pick up the phone
No time to waste
She got the beat
And there's a little bit
Comin' your way

(spoken)
Oh, raise 'em up there. Let's see who salutes, baby
Little bit, little bit, little bit higher
Here's the mast, swing 'em from here
I wanna get a little bit of apple pie, man

Bright lights, city lights
(repeat and fade)

C'mon folks, stop arguing. All the 80's hardrock bands were like this, and some of them were bad, and some of them were good! And i'd say this is a pretty good one, and I know this clip is a bit funny when ur used to Nirvana and Pearl Jam or something like that. But this was what the 80's looked like. No reason to argue!

I was a huge Van Halen fan in the early/mid-80s and even performed in an air guitar contest as David Lee Roth. Still, when this video came out it was so embarrassing I couldn't even watch it.

Yankee Rose was composed by David Lee Roth and Steve Vai. Becker didn't play with Roth until two albums later.

I just can't holeheartedly say that i like it, and that this is really metal, in this case.

Even though this is an example of good musicianship, and the guitarist is obviously GOOD with his instrument, i kinda.............. don't holeheartedly like it, nor can i really call this song and David Lee Roth REALLY metal. I like a lot of Glam metal bands, and i consider them metal, but this is one of those cases, when i am not so sure.
