I fell in love with this piece after hearing Christopher Parkening's recording on his Bach album. His arrangement was originally written for two guitars by but I tried to make it work for solo guitar. This performance took place at the American Institute of Guitar in midtown NYC around 1996.

  • This is the best guitar interpretation of this song I've heard so far! Congratulations!

  • thanks for the kind response- glad you like it.

  • Argh, where can I find this arrangment? This is one of my favorite Bach pieces. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Wonderful interpretation.

  • Thank you. I love this piece as well. The arrangement is by Christopher Parkening and can be found in a small book titled Parkening plays Bach. I adapted the arrangement for solo guitar since it is arranged for two guitars.

    Beautiful rendition! Bravo!!!

  • it's good, you should play the viola and continuo part and sing the tenor!!

  • I heard a lot of your stuff. Now I know how you played in your day. I'm both speechless and inspired to crack open up that classical guitar book I have, and get started. It was a pleasure getting to know you! :-D
