Claim of responsibility in Mumbai attack - 27 Nov 08

Indian troops are continuing to battle armed men who launched an attack on the city of Mumbai that has left more than 100 people dead.

But who carried out the attacks and why?

A group calling itself Deccan Mujahedeen has claimed resonsibility.

There's little known about them, but as Clayton Swisher reports, the targets they've selected speak volumes.

True, some Islamic countries may be poor, but oil was discovered in this past century> Its benefits are trickling down to its people. Change takes time. This violence, is a sign of our times. I personally know many muslims and I am proud to say, that they are the very salt of the earth. Of course, there are the others too.... Fortunately the larger Islamic world is not barbaric. And I do not believe they condone such mindless violence, against innocents.

I read so much about Islam and terrorism, that I suppose one can be forgiven for mistaking one for the other. Fortunately, it is far from the truth. Islam, like any other religion is another path to realising God. It is a small bunch of misguided zealots who bring a bad name to to Islam. In defending the 'faith' that is true Islam, most of us play into the hands of these zealots. Very sad.
