Thirty years ago, Saddam Hussein came to power in Iraq. His dictatorship ended with the US-led invasion in 2003, followed by his execution later. But are Iraqis better off after Saddam?

  • @ahmed333youssef Yes but you forgot the wars that he waged, wich killed so many Iraqis.

  • RT MORE RT CNN IS LIKE AN FOSSIL

  • I have looked through an excerpt from the book you mention, and I'm going to read the rest as soon as I find it. Thanks.

  • alec Part 2 - that cause people to be as militant as they are. Sad that in the 21st century we seem to have more hatred and break ups in society, when we have the internet to make people dialogue as global people. All I see is the furtherance of hatred and media forms intent on spreading further fear and divide. Do try rea the book Jihad vs McWorld for a god idea of what I am speaking about. Never mind it's political sway, more so see the gist of what is being said.

  • heya aleclitvinov - Pity that there is only CNN and Euronews as stations, I avoid both like the plague, CNN being as glossy and fake as Hollywood and Euronews for being downright boring. Alec, I have NEVER met a more Nationalist group than on RT, people who believe in Russia more than they would religion or themselves. I was shocked and wanted to know more. I investigated Russia tons, and all I have seen is both the historical an the current political (well what follows is media) effects

  • As far as RT is concerrned, they do have a problem. They show the two sides of the Western coin and only one side of Russian coin - the one that is glossy.

I wish them to show the problems we have, too - and we do have them. But their perspective of the issue in question is usually objective (unlike CNN, for example). And (again, unlike CNN) they let you comment their reports, and that is great of them.

  • 'check out Georgia'

Russia had all reasons, moral and legal, to stop Georgia. This time I was not ashamed of my country.

'do you accept that your media sources in Russia are particularly anti-west and display daily dislike of the west for Russian citizens to digest?'

No. At least not all of them. They are... different, you know. Novaya Gazeta (quite popular paper) is pro-Western, and though there are no pro-Western TV channels, we have EuroNews (translated) and CNN (in English) for balance.

  • barack Hussein.... who really voted for him? not many. corrupt govt put him in office

  • aleclitvinov - part 2 - so do you accept that your media sources in Russia are particularly anti-west and display daily dislike of the west for Russian citizens to digest? All I can see is RT as a media source, so biased and so prone to try undercutting the west at every opportunity, NOT based on the good will that it tries to claim, but more so on the basis of power play. Russia's sole focus remains as the west's, all about the money. Russia ain't more innocent than the west, check out Georgia

  • Hey Aleclitvinov - There are many more issues that throw the incident into question, you refer to one particular district where it proved hoax. Unfortunately as we both know Youtube does not allow for URLs to be added so add more sources of questionable material. It's just that Al Jazeera is worlds apart to RussiaToday, Al Jazeera is willing to confront social ills in the Arab world. RT seems on every turn to try discredit the west at every opportunity, never referring to their own issues.
