Taking a break from politics to acknowledge the last season of Kiddieland in Melrose Park, IL. This was my childhood, and I had hoped it would be my children's childhood, too. Unfortunately, due to a family fued, Kiddieland will be closing its gates for good on September 27, 2009, with a closing ceremony on October 4, 2009 to the highest bidders for the last rides. We will miss you, Kiddieland....you certainly have given us the time of our lives. All pictures were taken by me....the music WAS "Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)" by Green Day, but due to copyright issues and no response from WMG if I could use their music, I had to change it. Hope you still enjoy :-)

  • I'm totally missing Kiddieland already.

  • As am I. I moved back to Chicago in July of 07. At that point, I was thinking--one of these days, when me and the hubby have kids, we'll take them to Kiddieland just like I used to go as a kid. I'm so sad to think that my kiddos will never get to experience this awesome place like I did. :-(

My mom and I went three times this past summer. Even though I'm 26 years old (and she is much older), I still had a freaking blast. Kiddieland was truly fun for all ages and it will be missed, so so much.

  • just like rivver view on belmont with the parachute rides when my brotehr went to lane tech high .i went to schinder school .mydad was madd taking us there but it wAS WORTH IT SHAME ON COSTCOO.

  • That Costco store looks like shit looks empty most of the time I drive by.

  • So many great memories of that place long before over hyped and over priced Great America existed...

  • Where did kiddieland move?????

  • @LiberTchick THat is such a depressing story but soo soo true, i feel the same way, my dad would always tell me that when i have kids, we would all go there together, but now we cant, its just depressing all together

  • i remember getting stuck on top of the roller coster during a lighting storm that came thru it cut of the power just for a few min this place was awsome.its a shame to se familys that cant get along to close down awsome places like this and kiddie kingdome and santas village great places to go whe you were a kid.

  • @Powerwheelskidd Unfortunately, it wasn't Costco who "pushed them out"....it was a family feud that couldn't be resolved. Half the family owned the land and the other half had a lease on that land, and because they fought and fought, they couldn't come to a resolve and ended up closing the park. So sad. Costco is just the first company to have jumped on what I assume to be a very valuable piece of land! But it's not their fault.
