  • Very good tempo, very close to Verdi's indication: 80 for the half note.

  • What other composer would have the balls to grab a baton with both hands and attack the music like a sword? Only Bernstein! Even though this is a very fast pace, this is one of the pieces that suffers if it is not pushed.
