Charlotte, North Carolina's urban mixed use village. Metropolitan Midtown is a redevelopment of the former Charlottetown Mall/Outlet Square/Midtown Square Mall that closed in the early 2000s. It is located just outside the center city and incorporates a blend of office, housing and retail. Retail includes Target, Home Depot Design Center, Trader Joe's, Best Buy, West Elm, Marshalls and Staples.

  • Charlottetowne Mall was one of the first indoor shopping center in the state when it opened its doors to the public in 1959.

    The main anchor stores were when it opened were an Ivey's Department Store and Woolworth's. The mall was located at the intersection of Kings Drive at Independence Boulevard near Downtown Charlotte. The mall was changed to Midtown Square/Metro City

    before it closed its doors in the late 1990's.
