i heard with some cable internet providers you need to cloan a mac address from a subscribed modem but i hear on comcast you dont have to,so then what do you do?just flash and go?

so if i have comcast and a surfboard 4100 or 4200 then what do i need to do to get free internet?just flash a new fw to the modem?which sigma?which version?and if i buy a pre flashed modem will all i have to do is plug it in and it will work?or if i buy a modem flashed and flash the fw myself is that all i need to do,or is there some other software i need to setup or router configuration or comcast config file i will need?why does nobody talk in these damn videos

I have a S. Atlantic dpc modem 2100 is that hackable for free internet? I went to 192.168.100.1 and it didnt allow me to mod it. Is there a website to mod this modem for comcast cable line?????
