Zachary Norman of Venice, California set a record in the Omega class on his electric-powered motorcycle at the Bonneville Salt Flats last week. Zack's record was for 69.059 mph on his electric bobber. He has also clocked a run at ~77 mph, and was trying to solidify that record with a second run. I interviewed Zack about his unique motorcycle as he was approaching the starting line.
To cool Zach! This is Mark the guy from the trip up on the Mekong! I hope to see more of you and your electric bikes in the future! Will keep on the look out! Best wishes Mark & Mye

how much faster you think it would be with a carbon fiber frame?

Hummm chain noise? Have you looked at the DAF transmition it's pully. It's set so as you go faster a weight pulls the pully apart so the ratio changes. I guess they use them in snowmobiles also.

get a bike with an aluminum frame see about getting the most efficient batteries which is probably going to be the expensive part if you want it light and with power that is what you ahve to do.

Good onya! We went out to the Lake Gairdener salt flats here in Australia last month with our 'Catavolt' electric bike...it's great that these records are up for grabs...unfortunately we cooked our in-hub motor, so really, we got within 1/4 mile of an Australian land speed record. Argh!!!
