The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has discovered an extrasolar planet, for the first time using direct visible-light imaging. The strange world is far-flung from its parent star, is surrounded by a colossal belt of gas and dust, and may even have rings more impressive than Saturn's.

  • To date, NASA has discovered over 300+ exoplanets. With Kepler now doing it's business, these will shoot up into the 1000's of discovered planets. The easiest way, at least for the moment is to name new discoveries under the star and then alpha based upon when it was discover i.e. "B".

  • What's up with the name? At least call it Junior or something. But just "B"? That's just plain wrong.

  • AWESOME AS ALWAYS! Thanks again rshida for keeping these updated :) They load much faster here on YouTube than they do @ ESA. Just plain awesome :)

  • the heavens are so full of dust, gas and gravity it's easy to see the mechanisms of nature sirs..

  • It's incredible.... and wonderful...
