  • The year was 1983.

The race was 250 USGP in Unadilla.

Bailey's number plate wasn't black (125 cc) but dark green (250 cc): look at the pipe.

The rider with the number 1 is Danny Laporte, the number 2 is George Jobé.

Sorry for my english, I'm Italian

  • Look at how rough that track is compared to the groomed ones of today.AND LOOK AT THAT CROWD!

  • @homebrewman23 Ahhh, I see, I get it now. :-) be safe out there and yes, 4stroke is better for that.

  • @vetb882 I have to ride alot of road to get to the trail, like 20 minits, each way. I had a yz 125 and the top end would blow always on the road trying to keep up with my buddies. Its hard to let you friends pull away from you the whole way to the trail so you have to find a happy medium from getting left behind and screaming the motor 6th gear wide open to maintan 65 mph. So far, ive had better luck with my 4 stroker knock on wood!! For most people though, this isnt an issue at all

  • @homebrewman23 are you road racing or are you dirt biking? not sure which. no 125 should stay at 12k rpm, shift up...lol

  • @vetb882 Its not the heat that kills the motor, its the excessive rpms needed to maintain near top speed. For example my yz 125 topped out at 67 mph. In order to go 65 mph, you would be revving to about 12000 rpm and I blew it 3 times on the road sometimes top end sometimes bottom. My crf250 on the otherhand can hold 70 mph, all day because oil is constantly spraying all over the piston and crank. ...Just saying!

  • @JoeD60 he was an awesome rider.

  • @homebrewman23 ridden my "dirt" bike on the street at 65 mph, never hit that speed on the track no less. Under proper circumstances and engine mtc, meaning jetting correctly, a 2stroke should survive that, after all in desert races in mad heat they ran at 100mph all day long. I have nothing against 4strokes in an of themselves, what I detest is people taking away my choices. 2 strokes are no longer competitive on many levels.

  • @homebrewman23 I appreciate you differing views. Your points are valid but Ive never ridden my "dirt" bike on the street at 65 mph, never hit that speed on the track no less.

  • @vetb882 I dont get this argument. They are both fun to ride, bith have pros and cons. Just because 2 strokes dont race much anymore doesnt mean you cant own and ride one. I recently went to four stroke and I wont turn back. I can ride all day on a tank of gas, I dont need to over rev all day to keep up, and I can go wide open all the way down the road without blowing it up. Ive lost too many top ends just trying to go 65 mph up the street on my two smokers

  • @Motorakid The tracks are the same like that here in Finland... =D

  • motorakid, yep, you are seeing the conspiracy to kill the 2 stroke. :-( they groom mx tracks and lie and say its for tv looks, BS, its so fat assed 4strokes look better. they DONT want viable 2strokes, why, cos they are cheap n EZ to fix, they want their dealer networks to make shitloads of money from you WHEN, not if, your 4strokes blow itself to hell. so sad, now no one can afford to race, no one is buying new bikes, Hey AMA, NPG, MX Sports, "Hows that working for ya?" as Dr Phil would ask.
