He was the real deal. No one plays like that now.

I've watched several others playing this song and none of them come close to him. He has something I can't explain-a feel for the instrument. I know him and he was not only an excellent artist but a wonderful person. I still miss him.

After replaying this video 7,497 times, I still love hearing and trying to play along.
And thanks to my wife for never complaining about hearing it all those times.
Thank you

Correction... the tuning is the Jerry Byrd C6th and he's playing it like Jerry did. The tuning is E C A G E C# also called C6th+A7th

Wish I could find more of this style of playing. This tune has a snappy beat. Bet he's keeping the angels happy.

Beautiful....the way a lap steel should be played! I'd also love to know what tuning he's using.

Here is the tuning Garland used. It's just like strings 2-7 on C6 Pedal Steel: E,C,A,G,E,C

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that. I play delta slide ok but just purchased a Harmony H7 (Roy Smeck?)sort of like that one this week... The bar is set pretty high and I am truly inspired.
