At the time I lived in Toccoa in the 90's, I did some research work as part of an Urban Archaeology study of the school and the remainder of the dam. In places you can still see watermarks on the trees, and there is still debris in some areas. If I remember correctly, this dam break was one of the ones which led to the banning of earthen dams of the size.

How many people got killed by the radiation (or explosion) in Fukushima... None ! Never say me anymore, nuclear power plants are too dangerous.

My short time there was a year of magic, the spring in 76 was like a living dream , would walk the hills ,and paths of the area evry Sunday after service , and lunch. I was there the evening of the flood to visit , and left for home , early the next mornning I was told about the damn break. I lost some friends there, I have revisited many times , it is always a bitter sweet memory.

I was a student at Toccoa in 1966 through 1967, and believe me, God was there then, and I was there this past July. God is still there!!!!!
