Bought a Rival 34 last August, the engine does not not so well maintained. Runs fine tho!

@msmittyblazin thats a compression release valve. it lowers the compression in the cylinders. otherwise you wouldnt be able to turn it over. diesels use compression rather than spark to ignite the fuel...hope that helps.

what is that lever at the top that you put up and down? Can you explain what it does?

I had one of these engines in an Albin 26,glad to see they got shut of the unreliable dyno start and fitted a proper starter and an alternator,great engines
