David Bryne reminds me of Louis Theroux in this movie. Actually, Louis Theroux reminds me of David Bryne in ALL of his documentaries.

I have this on VHS. It's a truly original movie... the tone is so unusual. It's a very passive film. And David Byrne doesn't judge or really guide too much as a narrator... he just observes and walks around. And you feel like you're doing that as you watch the film. It's not a boring film though. I would love there to be more movies like this. The closest other movies get is David Lynch I believe (god bless Davids!). It reminded me slightly of Koyaanisqatsi for some reason too. Philip Glass.

"The radio reception is GREAT here!"

Broad flat landscapes, David Byrne narrating; this should be available in mental hospitals and police cells..... everywhere.
Soon, we will all have screens such as these, to sooth us,
to calm us.
I'd certainly like a hat like his.
I wonder where he bought it.

David Byrne is speaking in Atlanta tonight about urban design. This is a great movie with great comments on land use.

To all who are wondering
Yes, it was a song written for this film from which Radiohead took their name. The movie is called True Stories and was written/co-directed by David Byrne, front-man for the Talking Heads. The screenplay was based on newspaper clippings from small-town papers he collected over the years while on tour (hence the name True Stories). The songs that were written for the film (performed by the actors in the film) were recorded and released by Talking Heads as True Stories.

It's the beginning of the movie.
This is one of the best movies ever. You have to watch it many times to really enjoy it.

"I've really enjoyed forgetting. When I first come to a place, I notice all of the little details: I notice the way the sky looks, the color of white paper, the way people walk, doorknobs, EVERYTHING. Then I get used to the place and I don't notice those things anymore. So only by forgetting that can I see a place again as it really is."
