This is a custom JC Basses bass I built. It is just like the Carl Thompson Rainbow bass he built for Les Claypool. I just got the bass wired up and I am testing out the sound. Everything is flat on the eq. FInd out more at:

  • every one forgets the fret lines

  • I just happen to prefer the the clean look of an ebony fretboard over one with fret lines.

  • I seems a little more bulky than THE rainbow bass. Also, where's the fret lines dude?

  • I don't know about the bulkiness since I haven't seen THE real one in person, but it is a fairly small and lightweight bass. I don't like fret lines, so I didn't put them. Not much sexier than a black ebony fingerboard...

  • the body shape and balance don't seem as fine-tuned as carl's, but still looks like a nice bass

  • It balances fine. Not really sure what you are talking about.

  • love that song go primus

  • thats not a real carl, mate

  • nothings hotter than those shorts.

    delicious.

  • Good job for not putting fret lines on it, I think it looks better without them. Nice creation!

  • As a self proclaimed Les Claypool / Primus fanatic, and a Carl Thompson worshiper, I will give you a thumbs up on building a nice looking instrument. A little hard to say how it performs after only a 20 second clip with poor audio. I would however be able to say in all certainly it is not a Carl Thompson instrument or even a copy of the infamous Rainbow bass from seeing it at a hundred yards. And from the comments and your replies it's obvious you haven't studied much about Carl.

  • your standing on the wall as does your furniture... how do you do that?

  • dude that is awesome, u rock
