Sammy Davis performs his big world-wide smash hit recording of "The Candyman" in this 1972 clip. The song was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley and featured in the film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" the previous year, 1971. A great memory....

I was ten when this song came out. My parents thought it was great. Of course listening to it being a kid, I thought the song was not good.

Not being racist, but Sammy Davis Jr. was the best black singer I've ever listened to. What ever happened to people like him, Dean Martin, And Frank Sinatra? Music isn't music anymore.
