  • @boulderdsvo Liberty Bell 7 didn't go to the moon so they can't use their Van Allen Belt argument. Still, I disagree with them as well.

  • I find it amazing that no YT idiots are claiming this is fake, hoaxed.

  • Wow. Great find. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Excellent video! (I'd love to know how you got it.) It's such a kick to watch how the networks covered these flights back in the day.

  • @ceredigio It was not until the Gemini program that NASA provided live audio from the spacecraft. Before, during Mercury, everything was on a few minutes delay.

  • I have the book "We Seven". Also several flight-worthy Mercury-Redstone models. Thank You!

  • @Mode1charlie If you dont mind, can I ask the title of the book? Was t a pretty good read about the space program?

  • It sounds like the opening announcer was Jack Costello.

  • I would be surprised if NBC's coverage began a little less than seven minutes before liftoff.

I suspect that this clip began with the start of the live coverage, then jumped ahead an hour or more until the final three minutes or so of the countdown.

But it's great historical footage. Thanks for posting it!

  • Great stuff Zellco! As usual a great find!
