No charges for Kid Rock in Lee fight

Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Tuesday, October 30, 2007.

Kid Rock has escaped charges in his fight with Tommy Lee last month. Authorities say Lee decided not to press charges against the rocker. The two got into a scuffle at the MTV Video Music Awards. Neither of them were injured in the fight. But Rock still faces battery charges for punching a man at an Atlanta restaurant last week.

Stand up comedian "Larry the Cable Guy" has welcomed a baby girl. His wife Cara gave birth to their first daughter yesterday morning. Her name is Reagan and she and mom are apparently doing great. The comedian, who's real name is Dan Whitney, is starring in a new comedy called "Witness Protection" with Jenny McCarthy.

Stars gathered in New York last night to support cancer research. Singer Ashanti and "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson arrived at the Angel ball at a Times Square hotel. Other big stars like TV host Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos were also at the event. Singers Natalie Cole and Joss Stone arrived at the gala in style as well. The event raised money for the G and P foundation, funding medical research for several types cancers.

Oprah Winfrey is apologizing to parents at her South African school. Winfrey gave a tearful speech to a crowd near Johannesburg yesterday regarding abuse allegations at her academy. Last week a matron at the school allegedly molested one of the students. A few other young girls have also apparently suffered verbal abuse and harsh treatment. Winfrey fired 2 matrons and also the principal for not taking appropriate actions.

Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe are preparing for the release of their new drug drama. The actors arrived on the red carpet last night in Los Angeles for the premiere of "American Gangster." Washington was there with his wife Pauletta. Actor Mel Gibson was also at the event. The film is about a detective trying to take down a well known drug lord. It hits U.S. theaters this Friday.
