I made a hip hop beat in Cubase over an acapella from Smart went crazy from Atmosphere. All the sounds like the drums are samples i tweaked and stuff, i made the bass with FM8, i used Absynth for another weird sound, and i used a harmonica for some background sounds. On the original song it's used also so i thought it would be cool to do that. The intro is sampled from the original record.

I saw a lot of clean ones here on Youtube but, of course, this is the dirty one.

Hope you dig it! Shout out to all underground hip hop heads!

  • Not bad, a little too much going on in it, but it fits Slugs flow very nice..

  • Thanx for your opinion man. For a hip hop track there are too many sounds, you're right, but when i muted some of the audio tracks it was a little bit limited. And it was just for the fun of it, not too many time worked on it.

  • hey, can u tell me the name of the song that plays about 3 seconds on the begining?

    :D thanx...

  • I think Ghost of myself, by Doris Duke. That's the only one i found.

  • Not musical enough for Atmosphere, and for the song, too negative sounding. The meaning of the lyrics doesn't fit the beat, but the beat does compliment the rhythm of the words. All in all, it's a better beat than I could ever make, but you've put yourself in the uncomfortable position of having to be compared to Ant, and nobody can win when compared to Ant.

You've got talent, and this shows it, but it's not my type of beat. Too "gangsta" for Atmosphere, in my opinion.
