This Ballentine seems to have an issue with the bill of rights and the constitution because that is what the tea party ideology is :P

  • @MatsPT "Jim Crow was enforced by DEMOCRATS."

A huge party shift occurred during President Ulysses S. Grant’s term. When he decided to take up civil rights, prosicuting the KKK, and ending “Wars of extermination” the Republican Party faced several massive party switches under the premise that Ulysses S. Grant was no longer serving the needs of his constituents. The Southern Democrats, who owned slaves, began switching parties, where many republicans began switching to Democrats as well.

  • Harriet Beecher Stowe's character, Uncle Tom, in her novel, Uncle Tom's Cabin, was modeled after Rev. Josiah Henson. The character, Uncle Tom, was a gentle, soft-spoken man who helped his fellow slaves and even gave his life in the end for not telling where two escaped slaves were. I doubt Mr. Ballentine has ever read Uncle Tom's Cabin. He's just foofy.

  • @Iamtheall1 And Republican.

  • @ic300x you scare the shit out of me and the government does for the same reason. there is a need to respect civil liberties and property rights in any age. plus sure they were asshole racists but the 13th amendment outlaw'd slavery.

  • @Iamtheall1: I knew that the party began switching over in the 1950s and 1960s, but I didn't know that it had also happened during President Grant's term........... Ah well, I guess we learn something new every day, don't we? :-)

  • @jetblackjp: The concept of State's rights in of itself is NOT actually racist, you are absolutely correct here. But, unfortunately, I must be honest and point out that white supremacists and other types of hard right nutters HAVE hijacked the philosophy for their own use. Perhaps this is the real point that Ballentine was trying to make.

  • "State's rights are racists" Even though one of the original applications of State's rights was to fight against the fugitive slave act.... maybe this guy should learn his history a bit better. Also, it's not like Jim Crow laws would come into existence ever again. Society just isn't heading in that direction.

  • The constitution is racist!!!

it must be broken out of its case and burned.

    Wanna know why?

The founding fathers were slave owners.

We dont deserve privacy or freedom of speech.

So remember, governments are a neccesary evil.

  • @1776iscoming

African Americans will never "GET OVER IT" if instituions still exist that discrimnate and oppress. The Black Farmers have gone to court and won a settlement , yet how come they have not been paid a dime. The Senate has blocked payment again as of this week.

Not to say that you yourself practice racism or all white people do, but these institutions still exist today and until people like you open up and accept the attrocities that have happened, we will never move forward.

  • @Gman256

Bad example, Jews haven't used the holocaust as an excuse for laziness, poverty, and a high prison population. They got over it, I wish some of these black guys would, most have, but you have these Farakhan types that can't seem to look in the mirror for the reason for their circumstances.

  • @higuma75

I know. I mean... black women were all the rage in those master race days in Berlin. Preach brother!
