April 10, 2011 -- New York, NY) New York City's largest student- and parent-led groups and United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew called on new Chancellor-designee Dennis Walcott today to begin his tenure by fixing the City's failed strategy for dealing with struggling schools. The statement followed the release of a report which showed that thousands of students were abandoned in the process of phase-out.
The Urban Youth Collaborative (UYC) released the report at the press conference today, revealing the results of New York City's crusade to close large high schools. According to the report -- No Closer to College: NYC High School Students Call for Real School Transformation, Not School Closings -- huge numbers of the 33,000 students at closed high schools since 2000 dropped out, failed to graduate, were discharged, or have no data to show what happened to them after the school closed.
People are morons and lazy that'd one of the problem the people don't know how to push. The people are so dumb the react to the problem only when it affects them personally. That's one of the Major problems
