They were called BDA's bomb damage assessments. I served in Blughosts infantry platoon and went on a lot of these. Most of the time they inserted us there was a good chance of contact the loach had taken fire an active looking bunker complex etc. BDA's were actually not that bad. We always had two Cobras on station. Nobody ever cleaned our plow. One thing I was always glad of in a contact. I was not a gook. Welcome home brother.

I heard when I was with the 196th, that the Blue Ghost would fly out after a B-52 raid and count the dead enemy. Charlie got wise and would head toward an area that was being bombed and wait for the Blue Ghost to arrive. Then after they were on the ground and their choppers would leave, Charlie would then clean their plow. Nice job Jesse
